to be more

We are just finishing with our first full day of camp. I'm lead counseling and running media stuff for Chapel. It's pouring rain right now, and it's warm, quite warm. The rooms have increadible air conditioners, which helps get rid of the sweaty humidity, but freezes me when I'm trying to sleep at night. I think my throat is getting a little bit sore.

Everything's going just fine here. The rooms are over crowded, but it works to have 320 students... I guess.

I wish I was a little more excited. I'm feeling a bit down and disconected.
I want to be more than just doing my job.

  1. Who gave you this job?
Are you doing the job He gave you to do?
Who are you doing this job for?
Why are you doing your job?
You are a piece of the Hume puzzle in Thailand.
Your job (as is everyone's) is to point people to Jesus; it is our purpose in life.
    Find your joy in Him.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

    I'm praying for you!

  2. Maybe I've told you this story.

    ----------------------------------
In junior high the worship leader stood the first night of winter camp, amid all our eagerness to hear him—our favorite leader (think Joel Weldon like 15 years ago)—only to hear him say:

"To be honest I don't really want to be here. I'm tired. I've been traveling for months. I've not seen my family and I don't really feel like worshipping tonight."

His honest was raw, ragged. It caught the breath from our throats. Eyes gaped. He continued...

"I told God all this. I told him I had nothing to give you all. That anything I did onstage this weekend was fake, empty, devoid of any truth or true feeling on my part."

And God told him right back:

"Exactly. You never had anything to give them. But I have much I want to give them thru you. So GO."

He did, and HE did much in us.

Push thru to the end. Gather energy from those who have it, courage from His proven past, and strength from Him directly. The enemy would use discouragement to keep you from the experience of a lifetime—one I wish I was having as I lead a quiet life in my corner of the world.

You are in a rare moment. Claim it.
